I hold a Ph.D. in AI and business process automation from the University of Iceland and am the CEO of Sanitica AI. As Associate Professor and Head of Business Intelligence at Bifröst University, and lecturer at the University of Iceland and Reykjavík University, I teach applied artificial intelligence, automation, fintech, applied informatics and data-driven decision making.

With over two decades of experience in innovation, development and finance, I have founded five companies and advised more than 150 clients over the past 10 years through Poppins & Partners and my own practice at Data Safari. My career includes roles at Íslandsbanki, Deloitte and KPMG, including the audit of the Central Bank of Iceland, before I started my own business in 2014.

My research focuses on artificial intelligence, digital finance and organisational technology adoption, with particular emphasis on explainable AI (XAI), socio-technical governance and natural language analytics. I am an active participant in international research collaboration, including MSCA Digital Finance (co-lead of doctoral training) and the COST FinAI research network.

I am an MIT-certified VMS mentor, serve on the board of Hefring Marine, and represent Iceland on CEN/CLC JTC 21, the European standardisation committee for the EU AI Act. I previously served on the advisory board of Nordic Smart Government & Business. I have given talks on AI, automation and the future of business across the world.
